Since being diagnosed with autism at age 2, Ashley has worked hard not to let it prevent her from living a full life. At the age of three, she was drawn to gymnastics and dancing as her favorite activities due to continuous action, elegant movement, and team camaraderie. Qualifying for the Special Olympics gymnastic team has rewarded her love for athletics, hard practice sessions and dedication to the sport. It will be an honor and privilege for her to represent New Jersey in the 2022 USA Games. While balancing friendships, schoolwork, and part-time work at her school bistro, Ashley graduated high school in 2020—all amid the COVID-19 pandemic. After graduation, Ashley enrolled in the school’s work transition program through 2024. She was commended for working diligently and enthusiastically, while helping younger students with their work. In addition to gymnastics, Ashley enjoys bike riding, dancing and yoga. In the future, she aspires to work in the fashion industry, beginning with retail sales.
