When Ashley's kindergarten teacher started a Special Olympics New Jersey track team, no one anticipated that, 24 years later, Ashley would be part of Team New Jersey heading to Orlando! In the intervening years she has continued running Track, competed in Snowshoeing, and dabbled in Golf. In addition to sports involvement, Ashley has completed Athlete University, joined Athlete Congress, and become a Sargent Shriver Global Messenger. Ashley has raised funds with the Polar Bear Plunge, Lincoln Tunnel 5K, and Tip-A-Cop events. She has lobbied members of Congress, modeled scarves in a national ad campaign, and made countless speeches, all in support of Special Olympics New Jersey. Ashley even appeared on stage at WrestleMania representing the 2014 USA Games held in New Jersey (she even got a hug from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson!). When not training or competing, Ashley may be found working as a grocery store Deli Clerk, attending her young adult book club, or supporting Camp Lebanon. She unwinds with workouts or meditation on her Virtual Reality device, reading Young Adult novels, or diving into fantasy/sci-fi media. Ashley is excited about competing on Team New Jersey, with both old and new friends, and looks forward to all the people she will meet in Orlando.
