Dave has spent 30 years running, coaching, and refereeing youth sports programs. With his kids grown, he was looking for a venue where he could continue to coach athletes of various ages. Special Olympics New Jersey became that venue. Over the last 3 years, he has gradually increased his participation as a coach in the Special Olympics programs. It all started as a Unified golf partner with the FSA Freehold Fairwayers. As a result, Dave was introduced to the Area Director who just happened to be looking into replacing a long time Special Olympics New Jersey basketball coach who was moving out of state for the FSA Hurricanes. It was meant to be, timing is everything. Dave has since been working with that team for the last two years and has built a great relationship with the athletes and their families. To add to his coaching responsibilities, Dave was recently asked to assist in the FSA bowling program. Dave retired 3 years ago after spending 37 years in Information Technology for a Fortune 500 company. Since retiring, he fills some of his other spare time as a travel agent planning amazing vacations for his clients. Dave and his wife Cynthia have been married for 40 years and are proud parents of 3 sons who are all married with families. They have 2 granddaughters, ages 7 and 7 weeks, and are anxiously awaiting the birth of their 3rd granddaughter in January 2022. When Dave is not spending time with his family, he loves to travel and play golf. In addition to his volunteer work with Special Olympics New Jersey, he also volunteers with Make-A-Wish New Jersey and Dream Factory of the Jersey Shore.
