Rich is married to his bride of 22 years and has a blended family of 5 kids and 2 grandkids. Rich has been involved with Special Olympics for nearly 20 years starting with coaching Soccer and Basketball in the then-fledgling YSkor program. following that with coaching Miracle League and Challenger Baseball. Having been a player for many years, Rich's first love was Softball. After spending the 2014-2016 seasons as an assistant coach on a Unified team, Rich was approached by a group of Athletes who wanted to play traditional softball and the Mercer Rebels were born. Rich has a unique perspective on Special Olympics Athletics that leads to success in every sport his teams compete in and led to Rich being chosen as Coach of the Season in 2017 for Softball. Rich Is a Gold-certified Special Olympics Coach and is a USA Softball ACE Certified Coach.
