Joey Kleppinger

Age:

72

Hometown:

Tuckerton, NJ

Sport:

Bowling

Joey has been participating in Special Olympics for over 50 years. He began bowling when he was just a boy and grew to love the game. He gets very animated while watching his ball go down the lane, frequently kicking his leg in the direction he wants the ball to go. When he's not bowling, Joey enjoys helping his brother with construction projects, doing word searches, watching cowboy shows, catching frogs, and feeding the numerous deer and birds that live on his property. Joey is mostly non-verbal but manages to let you know what he wants. He likes to meet new people, frequently shaking their hand and asking "what's your name?" He is very interested in seeing new things and places and will always try to go for rides with family, even if they are only going to the corner store. He lives with his brother, sister-in-law, sister (who also has an intellectual disability), great-niece and nephew, an exchange student from Germany, and his 3 dogs. He also attends the OCEAN, Inc. Tuckerton Day Program.
